A Plaid Cymru MS has called for people to get vaccinated after it was revealed that coronavirus patients now make up majority of intensive care patients within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.
The news of the health board flipping to ‘red’ status based on there being more Covid patients in intensive care than Non-Covid patients came from an intensive care consultant within the health board.
South Wales East MS Peredur Owen Griffiths said: “I am concerned to hear that Aneurin Bevan University Health Board has flipped to ‘red’ status due to a rise in seriously ill Covid patients. This shows that the virus is on the increase and remains very much a danger to us and our communities.
“There can be no room for complacency over this and I urge everyone not yet vaccinated to get inoculated if their health permits it. This will not only protect themselves but also those around them. All reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of the virus need to be taken to prevent yet another wave.”
Peredur added: “Plaid Cymru has also written to the Labour Government to see how they will be responding to the rise in transmissions, especially in light of pupils returning to school in the last few days. Serious questions will be asked on the floor of the Senedd when it reopens next week.”
